FJMC brings clubs together to help solve common problems and enjoy common benefits.

It’s hard to believe that in less than two months we are going to have our 2021 Virtual Convention taking place between June 6-13.  Of course, you have registered already, haven’t you?!!  It’s ok if you have not - there’s still time to do so!  You may have received an invitation to register, but if you didn’t just go on the FJMC Home page and you can do it there.

We will offer many of the traditional elements of Convention just virtually!  All the award ceremonies, opportunities to schmooze, a terrific Cantors’ Concert and much more. We have also lined up some great speakers such as Micah Goodman and Tal Brody, with others soon to be announced.

So what are you waiting for? Register now (it’s only $36 and for many of you even less!) and I look forward to seeing you many times between June 6-13.

They say the Early Bird Gets The Worm. So, we offered bonus points for early submittal of applications for the 2021 Torch Awards. Then, there are those who wait until the last moment to get things done. They say It’s Never Too Late. To those folks we keep saying the April 23 Deadline is approaching. Don’t you be the one who ends up saying, I’m embarrassed! I should have gotten it in on time! Be a part of the fun and glory.

Fill out the application and be ready to bring home to your club a Gold, Silver or Bronze Torch Award plaque.

The FJMC Quality Club Award is given each year to member clubs who meet established criteria. The Award was developed to encourage clubs to offer specific types of activities at the local, regional, and international level. The criteria may also be used as a blueprint for a club to follow in planning its yearly programming. The award, an engraved, 15 year, perpetual plaque, is presented in even numbered years at a regional event and in odd numbered years at the FJMC international convention.

The Temple Israel of Natick, MA created a program called Divrei HaShavua – Words of the Week, which is geared toward helping people learn a little bit of Hebrew each week. We provide five Hebrew words from the parash along with their definitions and transliterations. The idea is that if you learn a few words a week, after a year you will know a few hundred words.  Pre-pandemic we provided the table of words in the paper Shabbat flier; however the jpg file can easily be downloaded from our website and used in online newsletters/emails. The tables of words were created by fellow Men’s Club members around the country.

Wouldn't it be nice if, after reading the story of Noah, our congregants knew the Hebrew word for flood (מבוּל), or after reading the story of Joseph, they knew the word for dream (חלוֹם). Divrei Hashavua has the potential to stimulate interest for everyone in the parsha, including those that often don't feel a connection with the Torah service.
