Now You Know
By Alan Budman, FJMC International President

November 1, 2023

We are all saddened and shocked by the terrorist attack on Israel and the murder of innocent lives by Hamas last month.  We pray for the safe return of the hostages and want Israel to be secure and at peace.

FJMC has tried to help the Jewish community by providing its members with regular “Toolkits” - information gathered mostly from other organizations which our members can use to help them help Israel during this time of crisis.  Those messages contained information on where donations can be made, suggested letters to legislators advocating for support for Israel, letters to the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Canada thanking them for their support, suggested prayers one could offer, and so much more.  We also ran several Hearing Men’s Voices (HMV) sessions designed to give an outlet to our members where they shared their innermost feelings about the situation in Israel and the rapid rise in antisemitism here at home.  These HMV sessions allowed men to come together to share how these crises have impacted them in a safe and confidential space.  We also sponsored a World Wide Wrap Special Edition - Wrapping Tefillin in Solidarity with Israel to coincide with the Global Memorial Ceremony.

We also joined with other organizations to promote Israel advocacy and we will continue to be a tireless supporter for Israel as it weathers this emergency.

Regardless of any individual’s feelings about Israeli politics, we are united in our commitment to a strong, safe Israel.

FJMC provides opportunities to learn and exercise life/leadership skills which you may not have the opportunity to either learn or use in your work. (Such skills relate to working constructively with a group to accomplish something more than one person alone could not accomplish.)
