 NITY GROUP\nChallah Baking with Allan Kahan\nMonday\, January 27\, 2025 at
  8:00 pm\nImpress your family and friends while celebrating your Jewish id
 entity.  Learn how to bake (and braid) challah.\nWe'll learn how to make 
 a DELICIOUS challah (easy to use one egg recipe\, which was accepted as 'b
 est' by a professional baker)\, kneading either by machine or hand\, and l
 earn how to do a simple three-strand braid\, or for a 'fancy' presentation
 \, do a smaller three-strand braid on top of a larger braid.  See Challah
  Baking recipe. \n\nYou'll be taught by Past International President\, Al
 lan Kahan\, who has been making\, baking (and consuming) these delicious c
 hallahs since the mid-1970's\, when he was in law school.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA
 llan Kahan\, Honorary President\, has served as Vice President of the Lead
 ership Development and Training\, Regions and Club Services and Communicat
 ions portfolios.  Allan was born in Bethesda\, Maryland\, and raised in S
 ilver Spring\, MD\, where he continues to live with his wife of over 42 ye
 ars\, Helene\, and is father of Ariel (Washington\, DC)\, Shira (Washingto
 n\, DC) and Jared (New York City\, NY).  After graduating from the Univer
 sity of Tulsa law school\, Allan got involved in United Jewish Appeal Youn
 g Leadership in the Washington\, DC area\, where he met Helene.  Allan re
 tired from the federal government in June 2017.  He was an attorney for t
 he U.S. Department of Agriculture for 15 years\, then went into private pr
 actice\, and finally as an Analyst with the Department of Agriculture and 
 then Transportation Security Administration for a total of 18 years.  All
 an continues to practice small business collection law.\n\nAllan has been 
 involved in both his synagogue (Ohr Kodesh\, Chevy Chase\, MD) and the Fed
 eration of Jewish Men’s Club (FJMC) for over 25 years.  Allan helped re
 establish the Men’s Club at Ohr Kodesh\, was President of the club for t
 hree years\, then went on to be Treasurer and then President of the Seaboa
 rd Region\, FJMC.  Allan has held numerous additional positions with the 
 FJMC\, including Torch Award Chairman\, Editor of The Advantage (newslette
 r for club leaders)\, webmaster for the FJMC\, Secretary.  For five and a
  half years he worked with Captain Ruach\, Burt Fischman\, of blessed memo
 ry\, providing Leadership Development training for the Executive Committee
