SUMMARY:The Future of the Jewish Community and the Conservative Movement?
DESCRIPTION:Scroll Down to Register\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Future of the Jewish Com
munity and the Conservative Movement?\npresented by Rabbi Ed Feinstein\n\n
The catastrophe of October 7th and its aftermath have shaken us. We are se
arching for a new understanding of our identity and our place in America a
nd the world. But this isn't the first time we've been touched by catastro
phe and found it necessary to reinterpret\, reinvent\, reshape and renew o
urselves. In fact\, we have a particular talent for embracing moments of
discontinuity and turning them into opportunities for spiritual creativity
. \nRabbi Ed Feinstein\nElie Wiesel wrote that “God created humanity\,
because God loves stories.” Rabbi Ed Feinstein loves stories too\, and h
as spent his adult life sharing the stories of the Jewish people. Teacher\
, lecturer\, storyteller\, Rabbi Feinstein is rabbi of Valley Beth Shalom
in Encino\, California and Lecturer at the Ziegler Rabbinical School of th
e American Jewish University. He has served on the faculty of the Wexner H
eritage Program\, Milken Community High School\, the Chautauqua Institutio
n\, and the Shalom Hartman Institute. Raised in the back of his parents’
bakery on the wild frontiers of the West San Fernando Valley\, Ed graduat
ed from the University of California at Santa Cruz\, Columbia University T
eachers College\, and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America\, where h
e was ordained a rabbi and earned his doctorate in education. He was the f
ounding head of the Solomon Schechter Academy of Dallas\, Associate Rabbi
of Congregation Shearith Israel in Dallas\, and Executive Director of Camp
Ramah in California. He came to Valley Beth Shalom in 1993.\n\nRabbi Fein
stein is the author of five books\, including Tough Questions Jews Ask\, w
hich is taught in schools and synagogues across North America. The Chutzpa
h Imperative traces the history of theological humanism in Jewish sacred l
iterature. Capturing the Moon retells the greatest Jewish stories. His lat
est book\, In Pursuit of Godliness and a Living Judaism\, is an intellectu
al biography of his mentor\, Rabbi Harold Schulweis.\n\nEd shares life wit
h Rabbi Nina Bieber Feinstein\, their three children and spouses\, and two
beautiful new grandchildren. Every Friday afternoon\, he bakes brownies
from a recipe revealed to his ancestors at Mount Sinai.\n\n\n\n[ninja_form
