DESCRIPTION:Scroll Down to Register\n\n\nGlobetrotters - How Abe Saperstein
Shook Up The World of Sports\nA Conversation with authors\, Mark Jacob an
 d Matthew Jacob\nMonday\, November 25\, 2024\n9PM EST | 8PM CST | 6PM PST\
nJoin Mark Jacob and Matthew Jacob\, authors of the captivating biography
of Abe Saperstein\, originator of the Harlem Globetrotters\, which is call
ed "meticulously researched and written in an easy and entertaining style"
\; by Booklist in a starred review and a "deeply researched\, exquisitel
y written new book” by The Chicago Tribune. The original Harlem Globetr
otters weren’t from Harlem\, and they didn’t start out as globetrotter
 s. The talented all-Black team\, started by Jewish immigrant Abe Saperstei
n\, was from Chicago’s South Side and toured the Midwest in Saperstein
’s model-T. But with Saperstein’s savvy and the players’ skills\, th
e Globetrotters would become a worldwide sensation. Globetrotter: How Abe
Saperstein Shook Up the World of Sports is the fascinating biography of Sa
perstein\, a five-foot-three promoter who made an amazing impact in a spor
t where height is at a premium: basketball. After Saperstein founded the t
eam in the 1920s\, they battled everything from blizzards to bigotry\, ste
adily building.\n\n\n\nRead this Chicago Magazine Feature Story\n\n\n&nbsp
