 e\, yet they remain stigmatized and often unspoken within the Jewish commu
 nity. Drawing on biblical narratives\, rabbinic thought\, medieval Jewish 
 philosophy\, and contemporary psychology\, this presentation explores a Je
 wish perspective on mental health as a sacred and communal concern.\nFrom 
 the struggles of King Saul and the prophet Elijah to the compassionate tea
 chings of Maimonides\, Jewish tradition has long recognized emotional and 
 psychological suffering. Centered on core Jewish values\, this talk invite
 s an open\, compassionate conversation that challenges stigma\, affirms th
 e holiness of seeking help\, and urges us—individually and collectively
 —to turn empathy into action\, build steadfast support networks\, and be
 come advocates for comprehensive care and lasting cultural change.\n\n\n\n
 \n\nRABBI NATE CRANE assumed Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah’s pulpit in Wilmett
 e\, IL\, in 2019.\n\nBuilding on his current leadership\, Rabbi Crane also
  serves on the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards (CJLS)\, the governin
 g body of 25 voting rabbis determining Jewish law and practice for the Con
 servative movement as a whole. Rabbi Crane follows a tradition of Beth Hil
 lel Bnai Emunah rabbinical predecessors who served on the CJLS\, including
  Rabbi Dr. Reuven Hammer\, z" l\, Rabbi David H. Lincoln\, z”l\, and Rab
 bi Dr. Allan D. Kensky.\n\nRabbi Crane is the author of the teshuvah (resp
 onsum) "Adoption\," approved by a unanimous vote of the CJLS. This respons
 um explores the halakhic status of people who have been adopted\, includin
 g the parental and filial obligations involved\, and offers a Jewish ritua
 l and accompanying documents to celebrate and mark adoption. In 2020\, he 
 co-authored the CJLS' COVID-19 Guidance for Kol Nidrei with Rabbi Pamela B
 armash\, Chair of the CJLS.\n\nContinuing his engagement in Jewish thought
  leadership\, Rabbi Crane was a Rabbi Samuel T. Lachs Fellow with Clal-The
  National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership\, in partnership with 
 the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University o
 f Pennsylvania. He was one of ten rabbinic LEAP Fellows selected for the 2
 020/2021 academic year\, working to leverage\, expand\, and popularize (LE
 AP) the most cutting-edge work emerging from academic Judaic studies.\n\nF
 urther reflecting his commitment to community service\, Rabbi Crane sits o
 n the Board of the Anti-Defamation League's Midwest Region and the Communi
 ty Mikvah of the Conservative Movement. He is the recipient of the Start M
 e Up! Fellowship and Grant from Valley Beit Midrash.\n\nPrior to his curre
 nt leadership roles and before joining BHBE\, he served as a rabbi at Cong
 regation B'nai Tikvah in Deerfield\, IL\, and most recently as a rabbi at 
 Congregation Or Tzion in Scottsdale\, AZ. While at Congregation Or Tzion\,
  Rabbi Crane founded the nonprofit Hagigah: Dedicated to Providing Accessi
 ble\, Engaging\, and Fun Jewish Holiday Celebrations for Individuals with 
 Disabilities and Their Families.\n\nRabbi Crane's academic journey has als
 o shaped his path. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Americ
 an Jewish University in Los Angeles\, CA\, and a master's degree in rabbin
 ic studies and Ordination from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies.\n\n
 On a personal note\, he is married to Rachel\, and together they are the p
