FJMC Announces New Name and Bold Vision for the Future: FJMC International

July 7, 2025 — Chicago, IL — The Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC), the largest and oldest organization for engaging men connected to the Jewish community, learning, and leadership, is proud to announce a new chapter in its nearly century-long history. The organization’s governing body has officially voted to change its name to FJMC International and has adopted a renewed mission and vision to reflect the evolving needs of Jewish men today.

In alignment with this new identity, the organization is also reimagining the meaning of its name. FJMC will now stand for:

• Friendship – that is lifelong and rooted in meaningful experiences
• Judaism – that is pluralistic and joyful
• Mentorship – that is loving and wise
• Community – that is inclusive and supportive

“This is not just a name change—it’s a recommitment,” said Bruce Tomar, International President. “At a time when men across generations are craving connection, identity, and support, FJMC International offers a powerful and rooted space for growth. We’re not starting from scratch; we’re building on decades of impact and looking forward with clarity and intention.”

FJMC International’s new vision statement expresses the heart of this shift:

Men will cultivate meaningful relationships, a sense of purpose, and physical, emotional, and spiritual health through communities rooted in Jewish values and brotherhood.

Its new mission statement outlines how that vision will be made real:

FJMC provides men opportunities for personal growth, and to build strong relationships. We accomplish this through: celebrating Jewish learning, traditions, and culture; gathering for social events and retreats; performing service projects; engaging over Israel; combating hate and antisemitism; mentoring the next generation of leaders; prioritizing our health and wellness; and by supporting one another in safe and nonjudgmental communities.

This announcement comes as FJMC approaches a major milestone: its 100th anniversary in 2029. As the organization reflects on a century of building Jewish life for men and their families, this rebranding signals a bold step into its next century—one rooted in friendship, purpose, and belonging.

A new visual brand and international strategy will roll out in the coming months as FJMC International prepares to launch new retreats, leadership training, and mentorship initiatives for men of all ages and backgrounds.
