Without question, the long-awaited cease-fire in Gaza, ongoing conditions on the ground, and continued uncertainty in the Middle East are top of mind at the United Nations, just as they are for all of us.
But the U.N. also continues its extensive work to bring nations together to solve many other global issues. For example, did you know that the U.N. vaccine program saves 3 million lives per year, and that 45% of the world’s life-saving vaccines are supplied by the U.N.?
Summits and reports on many issues are on the calendar, including the U.N. Ocean Conference, convened to mobilize actions to conserve and sustainably use our oceans. Other subjects include assessing the impact of misinformation and disinformation on the achievement of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals; the Human Rights Council Social Forum, focusing on the contribution of education to the respect, promotion, protection and fulfillment of all human rights for all citizens of the world; and a high-level meeting next month at the U.N. Headquarters in New York City on the action plan to combat trafficking in persons.
