Fresh off the success of new connections in the United Kingdom and our success in bringing three British brothers to Baltimore for the Leadership Development Institute, FJMC International is now pleased to announce its first-ever weekend regional retreat outside of North America.
The International Region retreat in the UK is being co-chaired by Jonathan D. Epstein, vice president of the region, and Rabbi Oliver Joseph from London, England.
Tentative plans call for a March 2027 weekend Shabbaton to be held just outside of London, with sessions designed to appeal to Jewish men from the UK and other European countries, as well as some North Americans looking to engage with them from the other side of the Atlantic. It will introduce our brothers in Europe to the FJMC and vice-versa, highlighting some of our longstanding programs and opportunities, while also featuring homegrown concepts from the UK with a uniquely British flair.
Planning began late last year but accelerated during the FJMC’s LDI weekend at Pearlstone Retreat Center outside Baltimore, with Joseph meeting Epstein in person for the first time, alongside International Region leaders Jerry Brodsky, Bob Watts and Mike Berman and Joseph’s fellow UK attendees Dan Rickman and Nicolas Kalmus.
If you’re interested in attending this first biennial international retreat in the UK, contact Jonathan Epstein () or Rabbi Oliver Joseph () for more information as plans are finalized.
Jerry Brodsky is president of FJMC’s International Region.
