In May 2025, the Adas Israel Brotherhood relaunched with a clear mission: to create meaningful connections, support one another and strengthen the fabric of our community.
Just months later, in December 2025, we proudly rejoined FJMC International, aligning ourselves with a broader network committed to men’s engagement, Jewish values and lifelong relationships.
The Brotherhood is part of Adas Israel Congregation, one of the largest and most dynamic Conservative synagogues in the Washington, D.C., area. With a rich history, diverse membership and a strong commitment to Jewish learning, spirituality and social connection, Adas Israel serves as a hub for innovative programming and meaningful engagement. The congregation’s emphasis on community-building and inclusivity provides a strong foundation for the Brotherhood’s growth and success.
Being part of FJMC International—and specifically its Seaboard Region—has already expanded our reach and impact. Through this connection, Adas Brotherhood has taken the first steps and plans on furthering engaging with men’s clubs both near and far – learning from their successes, sharing ideas and exploring new ways to support men and strengthen Jewish life. This broader network enhances our ability to grow thoughtfully, while contributing to the vitality of the wider Jewish men’s community.
What began as a relaunch has quickly become a movement. With more than 30 inaugural members and growing interest across the congregation, the Adas Brotherhood is building momentum and establishing itself as a vibrant and welcoming space for men of all ages and backgrounds.
Our work is guided by three core pillars:
At the heart of the Brotherhood is our commitment to supporting one another. Our monthly men’s support group provides a confidential, peer-led space where participants can share experiences, navigate challenges and build trust. This pillar reflects a growing recognition that men benefit deeply from intentional spaces for connection and emotional support.
Intergenerational connection is essential to sustaining Jewish life, and our L’Dor VaDor programming brings that vision to life. We’ve hosted a wide range of programs designed to bridge generations and spark meaningful dialogue. These have included:
These programs not only foster learning but also strengthen relationships across age groups, ensuring continuity and shared understanding within our community.
Community is built not just through conversation, but through shared experiences. Our social programming creates opportunities for camaraderie and fun, whether through supporting local sports teams (join us in May for a Washington Nationals’ baseball game), hosting Brotherhood BBQs, maintaining reserved tables at the Adas community Friday night Shabbat dinner, organizing hikes or planning unique outings like a tour of a local kosher distillery. These events provide an accessible entry point for engagement and help deepen bonds among members.
As we continue to grow, our focus remains on building a Brotherhood that is inclusive, dynamic and responsive to the needs of our members. Our early success reflects both the enthusiasm of our founding members and the broader community’s desire for connection.
We are excited about what lies ahead and proud to be part of the FJMC International network once again. Together, we are cultivating a Brotherhood that supports, inspires and connects—today and for generations to come.
