An FJMC Statement of Support for Israel and the IDF

Dear Members of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs,

Our tradition calls upon us to not only study Torah but to live it—to be a light unto the nations and to pursue justice in all that we do. As members of FJMC, we recognize that silence in the face of injustice is not an option. Our Jewish values demand that we speak out, that we bear witness, and that we stand alongside those in need.

Whether responding to historic moments, major world events, or the struggles of the marginalized, we affirm our commitment to tzedek (justice), rachamim (compassion), and achrayut (responsibility). We do this for the sake of our shared humanity, upholding our sacred obligation to repair the world—tikkun olam.

FJMC will continue to issue statements and take action when our values call us to do so. We invite you to join us in these efforts, ensuring that our voices, our hands, and our hearts remain engaged in building a just and righteous world.

An FJMC Statement of Support for Israel and the IDF

The FJMC stands with Israel and supports the Israel Defense Force’s (IDF) actions against the current Iranian leadership. Since the Islamic revolution in 1979, the military and nuclear development program in Iran has presented an existential threat to Israel, and to all those who seek both peace and peaceful coexistence in the Middle East. The IDF’s pre-emptive attack in Iran was carried out at significant risk, aimed at producing a necessary, though difficult outcome. FJMC is committed to the principles of peace and the defense of our ancestral land. We mourn the loss of innocent lives in both Israel and Iran, as well as the losses sustained by members of the IDF.

We know from our experiences with Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Houthis in Yemen, and other terrorist groups bent on Israel’s destruction that Israel’s actions – whether defensive or pre-emptive – are often judged disproportionately. We also know that the actions of the Israeli military and the Israeli government are complex, nuanced and often place Jews in very difficult positions around the world.

As a Jewish men’s organization, we support Israel and the IDF as well as all who seek peace in the Middle East and beyond. We value life and deplore killing. We appreciate the strength and courage of all leaders who stand by Israel and the IDF.
