August 13, 2005 — FJMC International, formerly known as The Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs, is proud to announce a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to fostering connection, leadership, and support among Jewish men worldwide. Long centered around North America, the organization has officially formed a new International Region as an integral new geographic focus area, with its own dedicated leadership and a pioneering new fund to support its members.
The expansion of FJMC International to include the newly established International Region reflects the organization’s mission to build a vibrant, inclusive and globally connected Jewish community. This strategic initiative recognizes the dedication and enthusiasm of Jewish men living outside the traditional North American regions, offering them a robust platform for engagement, leadership development and communal growth.
“This is an historic moment for the FJMC,” stated FJMC International President Bruce Tomar. “By formally establishing the International Region, we are acknowledging the remarkable work of our new and potential members around the globe and affirming our commitment to provide them with the resources, guidance, and opportunities enjoyed by all regions within FJMC International.”
The International Region will be guided by a distinguished slate of officers, each bringing unique experience and passion to their respective roles:
International Region President Jerry Brodsky said, “Our officers have demonstrated their commitment not only to the FJMC, but also to the broader ideals of service and leadership that define our movement. I am confident that, together, we will build a strong foundation for the International Region and its members.”
To strengthen its efforts, the International Region has established a dedicated fund with two major pledges totaling $6,800 to seed its new initiatives. This will provide the initial financial impetus and backbone for future growth, mirroring the practices of other FJMC regions.
Using these resources, the International Region will provide targeted subsidies to its members for their engagement in FJMC programs, retreats, conventions and other activities. The goal is to make participation in retreats and conventions more accessible for international members, helping to overcome barriers of distance and cost that might inhibit individuals.
“The creation of this fund is a testament to our philosophy that every member, regardless of geography, should have the opportunity to participate fully in the life of our organization,” said Treasurer Mike Berman. “We are determined to ensure that our international members have the same access to transformative experiences, leadership training, and fellowship as their counterparts in other regions.”
The funds will be allocated in accordance with established FJMC International protocols, supporting a range of initiatives to enrich the experience of members, including:
“Gatherings like our retreats and conventions are where lifelong friendships are formed and where the spirit of FJMC truly comes alive,” said Vice President Jonathan Epstein. “Now we can ensure that men from every corner of the globe have the opportunity to participate, so we can truly make our organization international in every sense.”
FJMC International welcomes inquiries from individuals and groups interested in joining or supporting the International Region. Contributions to the International Region Fund are encouraged and will make a direct impact on the vibrancy and reach of Jewish men’s programming worldwide.
Secretary Bob Watts emphasized, “Our new region will not only enrich the lives of our members but will also provide a model for how Jewish organizations can foster unity amidst diversity, nurture leadership, and build bridges across continents.”
