Our responsibility toward others

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic violence affects every community, including the Jewish one. One in three women and one in four men in the United States will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetimes. Jewish Women International (JWI) has been a leader in raising awareness and offering resources to address this crisis. As Jewish men, we have a responsibility to break the silence, confront the stigma and stand with survivors. By participating in Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we affirm that abuse has no place in our homes, our synagogues or our communities, and we live out our values of justice, compassion and dignity.

Our engagement is not only about awareness — it’s about creating cultural change. When men speak up, mentor the next generation and model healthy and respectful relationships, we shift the culture and help prevent abuse before it begins. Partnering with JWI’s leadership in this effort allows us to add our voices and actions to a growing movement of safety and respect. In doing so, we strengthen our families, our congregations and the Jewish future, fulfilling FJMC International’s mission of friendship, mentorship and community.
