The Jewish values around reproductive health and rights
Once again, FJMC International is supporting Repro Shabbat, a special annual Shabbat celebration centered around honoring the Jewish value of reproductive freedom.
Sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women, it takes place every year on Parshat Mishpatim, the Torah reading which includes the verses that are commonly referenced as the foundation to Judaism’s approach to reproductive health, rights and justice. Held this year on Feb. 13-14, it will be marked by individuals, shuls and communities around the world.
Want to help promote the observance and spread the word about Repro Shabbat? Here is a social media toolkit from NCJW. And here are three things you can do today to help spread the word:
- Use NCJW’s outreach toolkit to help spread the word to your network. There are so many ways to participate in Repro Shabbat—by hosting a gathering in your community, bringing together family or friends, joining a local event happening in your community, or marking the moment with a quiet, personal observance. Our outreach and social media toolkit includes ready-to-use language whether you’re reaching local organizations, community partners, or individuals. Once an organization or individual signs up, they’ll receive a curated set of resources to help make their Repro Shabbat meaningful and impactful.
- Make sure your internal network is in the loop by sharing the Repro Shabbat website with your staff and Board members. They can choose to host their own Repro Shabbat or find a local event to join!
- Consider signing up to host a Repro Shabbat for your own organization. Make time for your team to celebrate reproductive freedom as a Jewish value. The Repro Shabbat website has all the resources you’ll need.
