Press Release

When the Alarm Is This Loud, You Need More Than Awareness. You Need a Map.

The ADL, Hillel International, Blue Square Alliance, and Spertus Institute join FJMC International in the inaugural issue of CATALYST MAGAZINE — four perspectives, four arenas, one picture of what antisemitism actually looks like in 2026.

BALTIMORE, MD, June 30, 2026

You’ve heard the alarm. I know I have. You may have even felt it. But if you’re honest, you’ve also felt something else: the unsettling sense that you don’t fully understand what you’re looking at — where antisemitism is coming from, how it’s showing up in a courtroom versus a college campus versus a corporate boardroom, and what, if anything, you’re supposed to do about it.

That gap — between awareness and understanding — is exactly where FJMC International is planting a flag.

FJMC International, the largest Jewish men’s organization in North America, is launching CATALYST, a new digital publication built on a simple premise: there are many dedicated organizations fighting antisemitism. What has been missing is a publication committed to illuminating it — covering its many forms, its many arenas, and the many different communities and institutions working to confront it — so that readers can move from passive concern to genuine comprehension.

In the inaugural issue, four of American Jewish life’s most prominent organizations have come together to do exactly that — each contributing a bylined essay from their own arena, for the first time in a single publication:

  • The Anti-Defamation League brings the legal record and data infrastructure — antisemitism mapped, documented, and prosecuted.
  • Hillel International speaks from 550+ college campuses, where the most visible and volatile front lines of Jewish safety run directly through student life.
  • Blue Square Alliance Against Hate, founded by Robert Kraft, addresses the millions of Americans who haven’t yet understood why this fight is also theirs.
  • Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership contributes the academic and professional depth of an institution built to educate Jewish leaders for the long haul.

Together, they don’t simply fill a publication. They fill a gap: the space between knowing something is wrong and understanding it well enough to act.

“The bystander isn’t the villain of this story. But history has rarely been kind to them either.”
— Aaron Altman, CATALYST Editor-in-Chief

CATALYST launches with a distribution of 30,000 readers across North America and is available digitally to the broader public. Distribution partnerships with synagogues, federations, JCCs, campuses, interfaith coalitions, and civic organizations are actively being developed.
