Hearing Men’s Voices: Eat Your Ice Cream
by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel
Format: 60–90 minutes. Opening check-in, 8 discussion questions, closing round. In its original form, this was delivered in a “Walk and Talk” manner so that participants went for a nice walk outdoors and stopping along the way to respond to each question. This put the premise of the book into action by combining talking to people, expanding your mind, moving and social connection.
Opening check-in
Go around the room, one sentence each, no cross-talk yet:
What’s one health habit you’ve tried that ended up causing more stress than it solved?
This sets the tone right away: we’re not here to one-up each other on discipline. We’re here to talk about what actually works and what doesn’t.

The eight questions
Closing
Action step: Each man picks one pillar, social, mental, or physical, and commits out loud to one specific, low-stress change for the next two weeks.
