First FJMC International Film Festival

FJMC International will be holding its first-ever Film Festival this month, offering a three-week online festival featuring powerful, thought-provoking films from around the world.

The festival will present three films on Feb. 15, Feb. 22 and March 1. Each film will be available to watch the night it premieres or you can stream it on your own schedule during the following week. The last film will be followed by a special discussion session on March 5, with Rabbi Noam Raucher, FJMC’s executive director.

DEAD SEA GUARDIANS – Premieres Feb. 15 | 8 p.m. EST on Zoom
55 minutes, followed by 30-minute discussion
DEAD SEA GUARDIANS follows three former adversaries—an Israeli, a Jordanian and a Palestinian—who join forces to save the vanishing Dead Sea. By attempting the first-ever swim from Jordan to Israel, they risk their lives to spotlight environmental collapse and show how cooperation across deep divides can inspire change.

#KIDSONTECH – Premieres Feb. 22 | 8 p.m. EST on Zoom
50 minutes, followed by 30-minute discusssion
#KIDSONTECH examines children’s growing dependence on devices and its effects on developing bodies and brains. Voices from around the world include parents and teens, a Google designer, a brain scientist and journalist Matt Richtel. The film asks who is responsible – and how we can help children navigate today’s tech-saturated world.

BEYOND MEN AND MASCLINITY – Premieres March 1 | 8 p.m. EST on Zoom
82 minutes | Discussion Thursday, March 5, 8 p.m. EST
BEYOND MEN AND MASCULINITY explores how men understand themselves, relate to others and shape the world around them. Examining emotional repression, shame, violence and the undervaluing of kindness, the film challenges traditional masculine norms and the role women play in defining them.
